Tradition... Three generations meeting customers' needs. The story of Stancato's Restaurant goes all the way back to 1938, when Pasquale Stancato began peddling his homemade sandwiches and coffee to hungry workers on the streets of Cleveland. While renting a room on West 14th Street from Sabastian "Sam" and Domenica Commerata, Pasquale met and fell in love with their daughter, Angela. On July 4, 1939, Angela and Pasquale eloped. Through hard work, determination and the steady business of Republic Steel, the couple's catering company, Pat's Box Lunch, became quite prosperous. Together, they raised five children -- Peter, Paul, Patricia, Perry and Patrick - all of whom participated in the family's booming business. As adults, the four Stancato brothers decided it was time to branch out into the restaurant business. They opened Stancato's Spaghetti and Steak House in March, 1971. Over the years, many things changed: Peter, the oldest brother, is now deceased; Paul left the restaurant to run banquet halls; Patrick and Patricia now live in Ft. Myers, Florida; and Perry became the sole owner of Stancato's Restaurant in 1996. But one thing always remained the same: Stancato's commitment to the highest quality food and service. Perry Stancato and his wife Lorraine, one of the first employees of Stancato's Restaurant, spent their lives honoring the family tradition begun by Pasquale and Angela. Working seven days a week, they built the restaurant's stellar reputation: for great food and the kind of hospitality that turns customers into friends. Stancato's Restaurant is the place to be. Meanwhile, the couple raised four children of their own: Perry Jr., Meredith, Matthew and Aaron. In May, 2000 Perry was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Sadly, Perry Sr. was called home to Jesus in February of 2001, leaving a tremendous hole in his family and at the restaurant to which he was so devoted. His legacy lives on, however, in his children, who remember that the love of food plus the love of people is the recipe for which Stancato's is most famous.
